Bird "frozen" mid air

No clue how I come across these videos, I don't even use TikTok

Following on from the frozen plane, It would annoy me if I didn't post this similar occurrence. From the little I scanned of this TikToker, he seems to be a conspiracy theorist, true believer, kind of person and he posted this compilation of birds being "frozen" in mid air. Just a note, he has a video where he promotes the "birds are not real" conspiracy theory, which originally started as a joke...

The first video [since removed] is of a white bird being stuck near a 4G tower, this actually occurred in July of 2020 and a few news outlet Did cover it.

This is the original video, I'm not actually sure how long it is because Instagram annoyingly doesn't show length of videos.

However, a news outlet did report that a few people in the comments did suggest that the bird is stuck in some thin wires, in the video you can actually see that the bird is not fully static, it is somewhat swaying/bobbing so that does make sense I think.

But other viewers had the more reasonable explanation that the bird had actually been caught by thin wires that are not seen on the video.

One attached a stock picture and wrote: "It could be cables even thinner than those in this image, the poor thing got stuck, you see at first how it sways a little."

This would contradict the video description but I assume that the wires are really thin?

Another video shows another bird in the same "frozen" position, I could not find the original video of it. The guy in the video says that the bird was "hit with a broom" but it didn't look like it was hit, just that it was placed slightly next to it, I don't think the broom made contact with the bird at all.

The third video looks like a kestrel falcon hovering, these birds can hover mid air when hunting for food, it looks really cool actually.



The last one is a bird suspended in mid air whilst another bird passes it by. Kind of the same deal really, once you've seen one you've seen them all.

I'm aware that some birds can hover (like the aforementioned kestrel or humming birds) however, most of these birds don't seem like the ones that can hover, can birds use strong head winds to manipulate their "levitation"? If it's such a common occurrence, surely scientists and experts are aware of this.

Be aware of a tradition of very realistic bird kites in some parts of the world. I need to get onto a bigger screen, as it is hard to see details on this phone, but the first vid with the white bird MAY be a kite unless it displays movements I can't see yet... and there may be a person holding a reel of kite line glimpsed when the camera pans left briefly. (Likely not flying THAT kite, but maybe an indicator that it's a good kite day!) The last one, with the bird that flies by, may be a kite as well... I have had birds buzz kites on multiple occasions, including one landing on a larger kite for a quick rest, and some territorial hawks diving in one repeatedly to try and drive the intruder away from their territory.

Edit -- time has passed, I am on a biggers-creened-computer, and nobody has posted more here in the interval, so I'll revise and extend.

First video is not a kite after all, even though the lady to the left makes hand motions similar to somebody handling kite line. Unless something really unlikely in terms of "bird stuck on her kite line" is going on, I don't think that one falls in my area of interest after all.

Last one, I can't see anything that screams "gotta be a kite," but I also see nothing inconsistent with one.

Most of these cases are birds trapped in a fine line, such as a kit string, dangling from a wire. The line is invisible, but sometimes the wire is also. Sometimes there is wind, sometimes not.

This is a pretty good vid... the bird flaps a bit as needed, hovers when the wind allows.

That makes a lot of sense, I think the first one is definitely stuck in some fine wire or something like that.

I think the first one is a bird stuck in a wire, the third is a Kestrel Falcon, the last one would be a kite. The only one that I find odd is the second one, how the guy swayed a broom in front of it and it just flew away.


The broom passes near the bird and the bird gets startled.


Interestingly the bird doesn't fly away, it flies about in the circled vicinity.

So do you reckon they're also just stuck? One would think they'd fly away instead of flopping about like they're in danger unable to get far.
