I don't really like how UAPs are often lumped together as if they're all part of the same phenomenon.
UAP is simply a label for things we haven't identified, encompassing everything from balloons, drones and satellites to sensor errors...
@Landru
We, and I certainly include myself, have wandered through the brambles and the mudpuddles far, far away from the topic. Might I suggest that this conversation be moved off the page to clean it up a bit?
The question is, does the government know more about UFOs than we do?

But that really depends on exactly what "the UFO phenomenon" is. What you saw could be something other-worldly, but have nothing to do with the idea that the government has dozens of crashed UFO, alien bodies and is engaged in a 70 year reverse...

The governmental Disclosure morasse is the same as the civilian...
The problem with this argument is that it assumes the very thing it needs to establish: that the government possesses high-resolution images and sensor data proving extraterrestrial technology exists. Where is that evidence?
Everyone can...
Well, I don't think any military is particularly interested in proving or disproving alien visitations. Why would they be? But things ARE flying around in our airspace that are difficult to identify. And it IS important to get better at...
I keep asking myself why these people keep at it, and the the simplest explanation is that the UFO subject rewards people for talking about it, whether or not they have anything substantial to reveal.
Attention, status, money, political...
I think something could come of it, but I'm not expecting confirmation of extraterrestrial visitation anytime soon.
There's a legitimate scientific and national-security interest in identifying unexplained sightings, but ufology is also full of...

I think a main problem for the military is that the released videos often reveal how mundane objects are misidentified due to parallax, low resolution, and other factors that most people would expect military personnel to be familiar with. This...
