I guess it is worth noting, though, that they DID release some "patriotic" videos on the theme of "YAY WAR!" early in the conflict with Iran that incorporated footage from movies and games. The White House is using clips from popular video game...

Maybe the Southern United States refers to where UAVs (e.g. MQ-1 Predator) are being operated from? As opposed to where they took off from. The pilot/ image interpretation staff in the US might be the the most likely people to notice anything... -

Some officials have been duped by governments or related/associated entities releasing ARMA2 etc footage, I don't think there's been a case of the US releasing a CGI video as one taken by it's own equipment from it's archives, unless I missed...
