Agree.
It's a good example of how a strong belief is impervious to facts. Why wouldn't they believe McCasland himself when he said he had nothing to say? If they made multiple attempts to get him to talk, my money is on him being annoyed, and sharing... -

This is a "problem" with Ufology, it's fun and the lore makes for interesting settings for things, the lore is great and the idea that is "real" is a fun daydream for most and people can have fun saying "who knows." It also gives a ready made...
