There's some oddness going on with the gain, and it's not clear what time this oddness happened. Here's is just before the "move". Note how "bright" it is (i.e. colder than the background)
A few frames later it's less bright. I've stabilized it...
Anything kinetic/ballistic has the issue of unknown landing area for the munitions, a laser is the best choice, if available over potentially inhabited areas.
For the high altitude spy balloons the USAF used a AA missile launched from an F22...
During the great Chinese Spy Balloon Panic, the USAF discovered that shells from standard aircraft cannon will pass completely through large scale high altitude research balloons without detonating, creating unnecessary hazards to people and...

Just out of curiosity, sorry if it may sound naive, but are there other simpler means of shooting down those types of balloons rather than having to resource to advanced laser weapons? Are those today the standard weapons for downing balloons?
According to an article at CNN, a laser weapon from the military was loaned to Customs and Border Protection to shoot down balloons, and everybody kind of forgot to tell the FAA.
Sounds chaotic, unprofessional and irresponsible. The "cartel...

IMO the US UFO scene is overdue for a real bombshell. Corbell and Knapp's blurry pixel clips aren't turning heads anymore, and Luna's task force is bogged down in congressional red tape. Something massive has to drop this spring – I'm betting on...
Looking at those images, the terminator isn't in quite the same place on the moon's surface, and the view of the moon is not quite the same (eg the prominent dark crater at 9 o'clock is closer to the edge in the Stellarium view). Presumably the...
Officer A. Sir, we have 95 red balloons left. Shall we let them go together this time?
Officer B. Hmm, no, let's see how long we can drag out the opening of WW3
I don't think syncing the frame rate eliminates raster lines, unless you mean interlacing.
I'm not really sure about CRTs, it might be some other display technology that has a similar result. What's clear is that on some frames, part or all of...
One last puzzle. Here's the first frame of the zip-off
It looks like there's no motion in the background. Is this the object moving before the camera moves?
No. Notice that not only is the background not moving, but none of the lower numbers...
Unlike bullets or missiles which come back to Earth, the laser will continue to propagate out into space. If a civilian aircraft were along the same line-of-sight as the actual target, it could easily be damaged. Without knowing the specifics of...
