THE UK's top UFO expert Nick Pope has died aged 60.

Nick, who previously ran the British Government's UFO Project, passed away after being diagnosed with Stage 4 oesophageal cancer.

The former Ministry of Defence official was at the helm of what was dubbed Britain's "UFO Desk" for three years from 1991 to 1994.

I remember Nick Pope from the early days of my UFO rabbit hole in the 90's. He was the one 'official' guy from the UK who would talk about them in the press and I always wondered what 'secrets' he knew but couldn't tell. Sad times.

I've interviewed him on my podcast and I had a nice chat over beers with him at AlienCon in Pasadena. Nice chap, even though we disagree about a lot, he was great to talk to.

I was impressed by his message on Twitter a couple of months ago (above). So many people don't get to square up to death like that publicly, and he did it admirably.
