Debunked: Thrive

At a social event in Boise this evening, there was a woman promoting a showing of "Thrive" movie. I am not sure exactly what to call it, I can not call it a documentary, since it falls in the category of the What in the World Are They Spraying genre of disinformation and conspiracy bunk

This one probably managed to have even more bunk than WITWATS. The website to promote the movie seems to mention every possible conspiracy there is.

9/11
Free Energy
Chemtrails
Bilderbergers
Alien Technology
Flouridation
Global Depopulation

G Edward Griffin seems to have a part in this, at least being interviewed. I have even found references on the website to Carnicom, Horowitz, WITWATS, etc. This "movie" seems to just a giant clearinghouse of every conspiracy out there.

From there:

What can skeptics do to counter-act such arguments? In my experience, these are typically intelligent people who have put their efforts into theories that only could be true, without relying on evidence or skepticism to sort through them. Getting a conspiracy theorist to converse on rational terms is then the objective, supplanting the seed of skeptical doubt the ultimate goal. However, if you run up against the kind of opposition that I have, perhaps you should jettison and try to promote critical thinking to people not so entrenched. Charging headlong into the lion's den is admirable, but dangerously unproductive.

That quote basically describe the whole long thread with George.

Oh gosh, ancient aliens theories seriously need to go away. They cheapen the cultures and mythologies of the past.
The page here: http://www.thrivemovement.com/the_code-ancient_cultures purports that ancient cultures got some secrets from ETs. They are trying to attribute the "flower if life" pattern to energy particles. I think they would be sad to find out that the Flower of Life is simply a mandala.
Also, they treat the Bible as if it is historical fact. That sends up big red flags, for me anyways.

This page: http://www.thrivemovement.com/the_problem-gda is full of the same old NWO/quote mined propaganda. Scroll down, there it is.. MK Ultra . Have any of y'all debunked that here yet? I searched but didn't really find anything.

There's an interesting post here about how Thrive represents a new kind of bunk, immune to reason.

I'm not sure I agree, but the "Laundry List" style of argument is very tedious to address - that's partly why I chose Chemtrails, as it seemed nice and encapsulated.

At a "meta" level. We need to focus on making the debunks accessible, and findable, and not letting them get submerged in a tide of nonsense. So in that sense, diving into Thrive might not be that productive.

The makers of it are coming to Boise tomorrow apparently, with a Q and A saturday evening with Mr Gamble.

Too bad I am in Denver right now for firefighting, I could call him out on the multitude of bunk, especially chemtrails
