Are Lithium Ion batteries dangerous? Well yes for they can catch fire if faulty and burn with temperatures reaching up to 2,000 degrees C.

Boing Dreamliners were recently grounded and their Li-ion batteries put in a steel cage to contain explosions and fires. But today the latest Dreamliner fire at Heathrow has caused further concerns. Is it a Lithium battery disaster story again?

No there's no battery there but the cause will of course be of some concern.

and also of great interest will be the repair to the carbon fibre structure - it is a very public incident - Reuters article:

Such extensive composite repairs have not previously been performed on an operating commercial plane. So the Ethiopian Airline fire is the first chance airlines, financiers and competitors will have to see a real example of how and at what cost the repair can be done.

"Everyone in the industry is going to follow this closely," said Hans Weber, president of TECOP International and an aviation consultant who has worked on composite testing technology. "It's the ultimate test."
