    Bugs and Suggestions for Metabunk.org

It's a bit of a mess - the inline "Reply" works for administrators, but not (always) others. I think there's some leftover JavaScript from a plugin, or maybe a change I made. I might have to do a clean re-install, which I won't be able to get to until next week.

    Bugs and Suggestions for Metabunk.org

Something is broken - I see errors in the Javascript console. I thinking I need to update or disable some more things.... BRB!

    Bugs and Suggestions for Metabunk.org

The inline "Reply" relies on Javascript working. As I was trying to figure out what was broken, I turned various plugins on and off, some of which might have crashed Javascript execution on a page. I've not changed anything for a while (and will not before Friday afternoon), so it should...

    Bugs and Suggestions for Metabunk.org

Xenforo, the software that Metabunk uses, has a robust market of 3rd-party addons. Unfortunately, with a new release, these can break, and sometimes there's no fix available because the author has stopped supporting the software. Sometimes it's because Xenforo itself has been updated to include...

    Bugs and Suggestions for Metabunk.org

I updated Xenforo to 2.3 – a relatively big update. I’ll try to iron out the issues over the next day or two.

Also fixed, the compass heading was a bit off. It should be 100% now.

Sitrec Night Sky and Starlink Development

The Permalink generation (and loading) for Night Sky/Starlink has been broken for a while, but should be working again now. It's under the "File" menu. Eventually, it will be rolled into "Save Mod" to avoid code duplication.

Sitrec Night Sky and Starlink Development

I briefly had a bug where I was not rendering the last line, fixed now.

Fixed the missing line. The constellation lines are different from Stellariums; there seem to be a few different standards.

Sitrec Night Sky and Starlink Development

Fixed! Although I'm not 100% sure it's quite right. The big dipper seems to be missing a line.

Streaks of Light in Night Photography

Not a perfect match, but that's probably due to lens distortion.

Streaks of Light in Night Photography

This ends in a bright spot that's elongated in the same direction as the stars, which means the bright spot is almost certainly a celestial object, like Jupiter. Which then suggests the wobbly trail is camera motion. Too much for the dim stars to register, but the bright object leaves a trail.

Upgrade done (to 2.2.16). I did not see any mention of this particular issue.

Yeah, I've seen that. I suspect it's a Xenforo bug. There's an update available. I shall install...

Skinwalker Ranch - Laser Beam Stops and Starts in Mid Air

Looking at the photo you only see a few stars. There are similar shots on video: (adjusted contrast slightly). So there's no real need for a very long exposure, it's 1/30 or more like 1/60th in the video.

and location, which looks like the ISS. I could get the location from the ISS's TLE file. It's not really designed to work from that viewpoint, but theoretically, it should be possible to simulate.
