Ann K replied to the thread Caplan book contains photo from The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951).Might be. The timing is about right. It was late in 1964 that we moved to the foot of a mountain peak, so probably 1965 that I saw the lenticular clouds. -

Seems like this one was due it's regular ~2 year recycle. https://www.discoverwildlife.com/animal-facts/mammals/big-cats-in-british-countryside A shame we cannot see this evidence nor check it's provenance.

Menzel and Lyle G. Boyd, published in 1963. I'm pretty sure I actually owned that book at one... -
