No I don't believe "a different heat source burned a line into it". With "camera artefact", I meant a camera internal reflection or highlighting of parts. Could for instance be a segmented window being illuminated by the bright light.

The UFO contradiction is that the better quality images are recognisable and thus never end up in the UFO pile, it's a self selecting subset.

The white is "cold" expression can be somewhat misleading. "Cold" could be just some degrees difference to "hot", as the scale can be arbitrary be set. I believe the option of a bird is still open.
