It's absolutely within the gamut of effects cosmic rays can produce. Groups are not super common, but not super rare either, it just means the cosmic ray decayed close to the sensor. Lots of examples here... -

That is the worst! I mean not really worst than cancer, heart disease or other life threatening situations, but it's very uncomfortable. As someone who got horribly sea sick in my youth and into adulthood, suddenly feeling like the normal world...
