The time in FR24 playback is UTC (the same as GMT). 14:08:51 BST is 13:08:51 UTC, as in the @TEEJ screenshot above #1,249I took the photo at 14:08:51 and all three aircraft appeared to be roughly overhead or in a direct line above me (green arrow is my direction of view). The closest match I could get on Flightradar is this (below) with the JAV4483 I think is the contrail at the bottom of my photo, but it doesn't seem to fit very well. Maybe I've made a mistake with the settings or the data isn't precise enough and the other two aircraft were actually closer to my location and the third plane at that exact moment?
It won't be CA575/CCA575D (Air China Airbus A330). CA575 is at 9,000 feet and far too low to be producing a contrail.I see. In that case I think you're pretty much correct.
You can filter out the lower planes on FR24. For contrail-producing planes the altitude should be set above 25,000 ft.Thanks, so you're right. I'm surprised my iPhone could pick out the shape of the two nearer planes at ~10k.
