You provided all the information that was needed for a swift identification, all is good. OK, Mick and flarkey are absolute wizards at this, but still, sometimes it has to go via a shortlist before they find a positive ID. To be honest, you made...
New thread on detecting repeating background noise (static) patterns

Without any context of the video, this describes a helicopter or light civil airplane.
The expectation that one would hear an aircraft in these environmental conditions can cause a perceptive disconnect. I went back and listened and I do hear...
Couldn't the sounds at aprox 13secs be an aircraft?
Its been mention that military aircraft may not appear on flight tracking data. Lakehurst is base is approx. 30km away and Saturday activity may be unlikely but it maybe an error to rule...
That is remarkable. I would remark on it, to people. (Everything is a movie reference...)
Seriously, that is impressive as all get out. I'm trying to think of other videos where it would be potentially useful...
PS: It reminds me vaguely of...
The background noise in an image is the "grain" or "static", the random pattern of variations in brightness you can see here (contrast set to 5 in Sitrec)

The brightness of the mystery light fluctuates as it passes across the clouds, getting brighter where the clouds are thinner...
I am willing to believe that, but have never noticed it nor heard it mentioned -- is this based on personal knowledge of helicopters, or can you share a source?
NOT disbelieving you, it's just that if I am going to explain this to somebody...
I've watched the video 3 times and I can't see a second light (joining the first and flying next to it). I am however watching this on my phone, so maybe I'd see it if I was at home by my big screen? Could you perhaps provide a screen grab (or...

This isn't quite right. ADS-B Out is required in certain airspace as defined by 14 CFR 91.225. Mainly, it's your larger airports (Class B and C, including a 30 NM "veil" for Class B airports).
And yes, for anti-smash, you get it. To others...
