A $150K RFP hosted on ResearchHub will fund independent searches of other observatories' pre-Sputnik plates. It opens October 15. Some relevant details: Applications are required to be submitted as pre-registrations on ResearchHub. Null and...

Personally, I find the word "impossible" largely irrelevant. I can make up a story about a strange exoplanet inhabited by elephant-like creatures with a technologically advanced civilization and argue that it's not impossible for such a...

Going back to the earth's shadow question, which I haven't really looked into since the data is rather opaque, doesn't that also assume something about the altitude of the supposed object? Granted these are all shots from the northern hemisphere...

Yeah, but Sheaffer attributes the error to Villarroel (now spelled correctly), not NBC. I don't trust journalists to get everything right. That's why I always seek out the source, if possible. In this case, that would be the published papers...

The YouTube algorithm just recommended me Grayson Hawk. I haven't watched enough of his videos yet to have a fully developed opinion, but he seems good so far. I am trying to confirm, but if I remember correctly, he is a PhD in a subfield of...

Footfall is a 1985 science fiction novel by American writers Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle. The book depicts the arrival of members of an alien species called the Fithp that have traveled to the Solar System from Alpha Centauri in a large...

I don't see that Jessica Knurick has been mentioned yet. I enjoy her videos that I have seen so far, and have not yet caught her out in any blunders. https://www.youtube.com/@DrJessicaKnurick She specializes in medical and nutrition-based...

My bad! The red plate was time stamped 8:52:00 and the blue one was 9:45:00. I mistook the 8 for a 9. I think the point is, NBC was using red and blue plates from the same session to illustrate transients, both in the intro and in the b-roll...

My point stands.

The set of documents sent to Bologna newspaper lIl Resto del Carlino seem to have been photocopies. I don't know if the documents sent to ufologist Roberto Pinotti were also photocopies, but if so it prevents age-testing of papers or ink that...

Thank you for restoring the context. That is exactly the point I am belaboring: these hoaxes do not look like official secrets, and Julian Vale's defense does not hold for them if you look more closely. Disclosures of official secrets have never...
