Why do people believe?

I wouldnt go after the governmental conspiracy thing, because there's no way to prove that one way or the other

I think that is what keeps the CT folks going. The all powerful Govt. did it, and they can do anything to keep it a secret. If something gets exposed, they will make it go away. if there are whistle-blowers, they will get silenced, one way or another. If you disagree with me (the CTer), you are either in it with them, or they have already gotten to you.

So a bigger question is: if they (the govt.) CAN do all of this and the truth will never come out because the govt. is too strong and too corrupt.... Then why bother? Oh yeah, they are just asking questions.....

That boils down to governments not being trust worthy. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with not trusting the government.. in fact, I support people that have a healthy DIStrust of government. Where things get nasty and where things go off the rail is the wholesale rejection of anything that comes from the government PURELY because it comes from the government... unless it fits whatever narrative or opinion, or belief you have at the time.

As an aside, those are collective yous, not singular.

Got it.

What I meant was there are the people that don't trust what people tell them and need to investigate and find out for themselves, and those that assume that "they" are out to get them and are all powerful and evil. The second group of people are the ones that basically elude to the govt having the "sinisterness" (that should be a word) to do these things, and the power to cover up everything that gets found out by the "truth" seekers. Therefore never allowing this found truth to come to light. So it's the "we figured it out, but they covered it up, so we can't prove it!" mentality.

and yet those same people who won't trust ANYTHING the govt says ( unless it backs up their own narrative) are VERY OFTEN way to quick to blindly accept on faith almost any view that is opposed to the govt, no matter how poorly researched, or fantastical it may be.
