What was in the sky over Palmdale CA

In the news today (7/18/24) was a report of multiple UFO sighting in Palmdale, CA. I was able to find a few blurry videos, one seemed like it was a drone with multicolor LED lights. It's difficult to find any solid info, lot's of click bait and sensational reporting.

The only video I have seen so far seems to be seemingly of a drone light show from a Pokemon tournament in on the 15/08/24 in Hawaii misrepresented as something from this apparent Palmdale mass sighting.

Odd that video was a top video on Reddit UFOs but it seems to have gone now..

This is the drone show from Hawaii, if you've seen the video from Reddit you'll note the colours are similar to the patterns right at the start (3 seconds in.)

I was waiting for some actual confirmed time/dated video from Palmdale to surface before even taking a look.

It's worth noting there are many large military bases and testing facilities near Palmdale such as Edwards AFB.

This tweet seems to contain 2 videos that look like the Hawaii drones and one that looks like an older video that's probably birds..

So manufactured flap or people latching on to a flap to recycle old videos... It's all very unclear.

I would also note that the Daily Mail is a credulous source when it comes to posting UFO claims and about 5,000 miles away from the location. (They seem to only post multimedia when they can buy exclusives; when they report on and post images or video Reddit posts the Reddit posts usually disappear.) There's nothing here in California news. The New York Post and Times of India also have stories based on Twitter posts, but I don't see anything but blurry images.

SpaceX did a "rideshare" launch from Vandenberg on Friday, putting up 116 payloads, for what that's worth.

My key takeaway there is that they seem to all show very different things. This does not support the claim in the... what are they called now, still Tweets?... anyway, the claim that neighbors were all out videoing the same UFO.

From colleagues in area, what was reported was a gaggle of six "UAPs" that floated over Plant 42 on Friday night, in sight for about ten minutes. Sheriff deputies apparently saw and photographed them as well, although I've seen no photos/videos so far. Good bet they've already gotten FOIA requests for any photos/videos and reports filed by the deputies.

Interestingly, temporary flight restrictions had been imposed in the area just a few days earlier. Leads me to believe either the military and/or contractors are testing something.

The second one, with the descending diagonal lines of lights, is somewhat reminiscent of a formation or stack of sport kites, with LEDs on them. However, the hover in a horizontal line makes this somewhat less likely -- you could do it with a formation of quad-line sport kites which can hover, but a stack should always be diagonal except when on or very close to the ground when landing.

In any event, I'll share the link with some folks who specialize in those kites, so they can rule it firmly out if nothing else. My money, for this video, is a formation of drones.

This looks like a rocket launch.
That video looks pretty much exactly like a rocket launch, but the different videos show different things!

Edited -- given how the link displayed, clarified which video I am referencing.

The Daily Mail seems to have uploaded a hodgepodge of "UFO" footage/stills along with this video compilation. I have to think that the one video compilation I linked to is footage of the Palmdale sighting.

If that's true, I'd say that, these people were seeing the rocket launch from Vandenberg cited in post 5. But the article says:
A Falcon 9 lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at 2:56 p.m. Eastern on the Transporter-11 mission.
https://spacenews.com/spacex-launches-transporter-11-smallsat-rideshare-mission/

Which would be 11:56 in the morning in CA. Broad daylight. Was there another, unannounced launch? They don't always announce military launches.

Now I'm wondering if that video compilation is from the so called Palmdale sighting or from something in the past. Very unclear.

At least two of the four videos here in this post are repurposed "UFO" videos of locals looking at The Pokémon World Championships 2024 Drone Show in the distance and not understanding what they are seeing. SneezingMonkey has already debunked those videos as being part of the Palmdale sighting. Two different nights, two different states.

2024 Pokémon World Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii. This was recorded from the beach on Thursday 15th August 2024

After doing multiple searches, I think this is a non-story. There's nothing but silence from local news. All stories are from distant sources here and there across the Flat Earth, which give a vague report and append random photos and videos. They seem to be just copying each other or social media.

The only other source is social media. It was kicked off by one guy and others are responding, including the ones who are adding the drone show stuff and identifying it as the Palmdale sighting.

Unless we get better info, this is nothing.

I just took the time to watch the entire Sneezing Monkey video...

This is supposedly Porter Ranch CA

But why did someone overlay recycled audio?

If you do the research on it, you will quickly find out that the audio—just the audio track of what you hear in the background—has been layered over this footage. It's been taken from a different piece of footage. I found this one, which is from one year ago, and it has the same audio track. It shows some kind of strange, mysterious, slimy snail.

Well, I can confirm that the Porter Ranch video is authentically Porter Ranch CA. Despite the bogus soundtrack.

(Makes sense because the pines and Italian cypresses in the neighborhood don't give a Hawaii type vibe, but are typically So Cal.)

Here's the location:
https://www.google.com/maps/@34.292...eqoJw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?coh=205409&entry=ttu

The corner of Reseda Blvd. and Kirkcolm Lane. And the camera is looking generally northeast, and generally toward the Palmdale/Lancaster area.

Should we start thinking about Starlink flares?

This looks like something from the 1980s. Possibly just birds.

The latest launch was early Monday morning - Aug 12. This sighting seems to have been on Thursday night.

I think that's what we may be seeing in the Porter Ranch Video. A racetrack type Starlink flare display. Similar to the Jalisco, Mexico display.

The colors and sparkles in this Porter Ranch Video are just camera artifacts. Because of the poor resolution we're not seeing the distinct satellite flares. Just a sparkly line.
