UFO Video over John F Kennedy Space Center 1/19/2025

According to a witness on reddit, they filmed a strange group of two lights over Kennedy Space Center on the early morning of 1/19/25 at 2:30am EST. (1/19/25 6:30am UT) Filmed on iPhone from a boat. I tried SITREC but could not figure out how to set up the Starlink Flares only display. I did not see a Pin or GPS coordinate for the OP's position and have no way to verify the rest of his data.

Incident info: Friday night (18th) a buddy and I were hanging out and observed a single orange ball of light that appeared to be heading directly at us and chalked it up to maybe an aircraft's landing lights but it still raised the hairs on the back of my neck due to it moving to our left (west) while remaining the same luminosity. No red or green navigation lights were observed and it appeared to be approaching not departing so it was not the white position light on the rear of aircraft. Fast forward to Saturday night/Sunday morning and we now see two (2) orange orbs circling the KSC airspace for over a half an hour. That airspace is heavily restricted and Patrick Space Force base is less than 15 minutes south of where this filmed.

I honestly don't know that's why I posted here. I know that area is drone free for civilians and no airliner or jet would be over without authorization which leads me to wonder what "we" have and haven't come forward with. These are not drones or flares or aircraft in my opinion.

According to the timestamps on my videos the one with just the single orb was at 2:18am, followed by the two orb video at 2:30am. I have additional "video" (my camera shutter was held so it translates into a video) that was filmed after 2:30am but before 3:00am that I would have to upload from my camera.

They persist too long to be Starlink. And the red color looks more like lanterns. The witness seems to think it's not aircraft, but I don't think you can rule that out.

I need to make some tutorials.

Just to state the obvious, the two lights appear to be moving steadily from left to right, but when they start to approach the trees the cameraperson walks (quite rapidly) towards the left to keep them in sight. This has the effect of making the lights apparently pause in the sky while the camera is moving, then they start moving again once the cameraperson stops walking.

Our old friend parallax again.

The two lights (which might be planes, or fire lanterns, or something else) are moving steadily from left to right, almost certainly with no jerky movements at all.

I can't tell if the lights are moving away from the camera. If they are they most certainly could be Chinese Lanterns. The prevailing winds aloft are also from the S- SW and these could be moving with the wind. I asked the OP for his exact location to judge the bearing of the camera. I'm leaning towards a high probability of Chinese Party Lanterns. Especially how one appears, then a short time later another appears. The OP has not presented any evidence of motion beyond linear travel left to right.

If these were planes, I'd say they were approaching the observer. But fire lanterns could be travelling in any direction yet still look as bright, because they shine in all directions equally.

One bit of information is that Sky lanterns are illegal in the State of Florida. Not that people don't still launch them. It's just an interesting fact.
And, surprising to me, you can buy them:

The Superior Fireworks store in Orange Park, FL, for example:

Perhaps those are for shoppers online? Short of getting somebody to run over to a store and look, that's as far as my research takes me, and probably as far as we need to go... ^_^
