UFO Sighting over Lake Michigan, Illinois (TikTok Video) on 11/31/24 [Holiday Laser Lights]

This UFO sighting was posted by a TikTok user jojoherrmann1. His account seems legitimate. He mostly posts videos of dirt biking or shining laser pointers at satellites...

One video in particular, however, caught my attention.

It begins the same as his other videos, shining a bright green laser at a bright star (or planet), but this time, his experiment gets a reaction I can't quite explain:

Dozens of multicolored lights appear to flash across the sky in a seemingly random pattern.

I watched the video a few times to try and determine if it could be some sort of reflection... I don't think there is anything like that going on. He is outside and continuing to point his laser through the trees.

I don't have an explanation, so I am asking you, Metabunk. What do you think is happening here?

(Attaching the video file in case it gets taken down.)

They seem t be confined to the area of the tree branch and the conifer at the bottom of the screen -- to me that suggests lightning bugs (is the video recent, that would rule out lightning bugs) or something like that which hangs out in trees; or possibly twinkly Christmas lights or Mylar "icicles" (tinsel) blowing in the wind if a hoax were in progress. Or even a snow flurry reflecting light from somewhere, though no reason that ought to be confined to the trees. Maybe ice coating on the tree?

I hate dealing with Tiktok videos. His channel has several "we are not alone" or "our buddies in the sky" videos, so UFOs are a thing for him. There is nothing to indicate where this was taken. He seems to have a family farm in Oregon but has videos from the Chicago area as well. As shown in the video he has a habit of shinning a laser pointer at any light in the sky. Don't fly a plane around this guy.

Note that all of the lights appear to be associated with the limbs of the tree:

My first thought was fireflies, but this appears to be winter. However, notice at the very, very beginning of the video, there are similar moving lights at the bottom of the scene:

I'm thinking, as this is winter, this is a rotating light display like I have myself:

Or this:

At the beginning of the video the moving lights are red and green. In the later part there more just whiteish, but it's much further away and just bits of light hitting the branches of the tree.

I think if you look carefully, the moving lights at the end follow the limbs of the tree. That's because it's lights being shined onto the tree limbs.

Just a thought.

EDIT: Cross posted with @JMartJr on this and fireflies.

I have both, and I'll be setting them up soon.

I had both too. The older laser light one was from at least 6-7 years ago, I was still living in Chico and shined it on the house. I think it's gone now, or I would have looked for it last night. Maybe today.
