Squamish Orb 2017

Rob's "Squamish Orb" was incredibly popular around 2017. I think Tim Printy conclusively debunked it as being the ISS, but I can no longer find the PDF where Printy laid out his case. Rob "debunked the debunk" (see video description), or did he?

Nice.
I was searching for nightvision footage of the ISS, and found a video where the "orb" is quite similar to the one in the video above. Just to give this topic more details on how the ISS/satellites might look like, when using night vision/enhancement:

I believe this was thoroughly debunked by Tim Printy as the ISS, but I can't find the PDF where he laid out his case and I don't have the skills myself to confirm its the ISS. Maybe @flarkey can, or already has dealt with this case? I've done a brief basic search here but can't find any previous mention of it.

Most interestingly (and convincingly for many) the light appears to illuminate some of the trees it passes behind. Maybe the ISS can do that? The light we're seeing is being amplified significantly after all, so maybe this is actually to be expected? Or maybe its an illusion caused by the night-vision tech?

As previously mentioned in this thread https://www.metabunk.org/threads/telepathy-tapes-presentation-taped-and-posted-to-x-and-yt.14266/

Update Sept 10, 2017 - proof that it was not the ISS: • Squamish Orb, Giant Glowing Sphere, from J... MUFON Case file: https://flic.kr/p/Xtiswo Link to download my original footage: https://we.tl/H8laBqsC6K Feel free to post, but you must include a prominent link back to the YouTube video: • SQUAMISH ORB - UFO? Glowing Sphere Goes in... Newspaper article on sighting: http://www.squamishchief.com/news/loc... Several locals said orbs have been spotted above "The Chief": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stawamu... at Squamish: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squamis..., so we setup within view of the granite monolith, the second biggest of it's kind in the world. At 10:59 PM, this huge yellowish white ball of light appeared out of nowhere & then proceeded to go into the woods. Thanks to Breslin Martin of our group for spotting it so I could film it with my night vision scope. (Night Vision is from GSCI Canada: http://gsci1.com ) It moved 100% silently. Note how any trees in front of the orb block the light, while trees behind the orb are lit up bigtime.
I did not see the time, so I just adjusted the time in Sitrec until the ISS was overhead, then adjusted it so it went behind the hill. That time turned out to be 10:59 (I didn't even know they were on PDT)

I don't know what apps they were using back then, but they don't seem to have been correct.

I've never used Sitrec & have a limited grasp of what you've just shared, but it looks to my untrained eye like you just conclusively showed that the Squamish orb is indeed the ISS? Please could you briefly explain your post to me in simple terms @Mick West ?

I put the camera where their camera was, set the date to that date. I then loaded the TLE files for that date (these are the actual position data from NORAD). I then dropped in the video and advanced the start time until there was an ISS overpass. I then fixed the camera on the ISS, and fine tuned the time so the ISS went behind the mountain. I then noticed the matching stars and fine tuned a little more (millisecond level) to match that (the hill still matched, with trees and a slightly uncertain camera location).

The time I came up with matched their time. The stars and hill match the video. The ISS trajectory matches. The speed matches. So it's the ISS.

Took about 20 minutes. Half of that was finding the camera location.

Wonderful. Thanks Mick. Can you or anyone else here explain the [apparent] illumination of the trees the ISS passes behind? My first thought was some sort of NV video artifact or just a simple visual illusion. Or should I actually expect the ISS itself to be illuminating the trees just enough that we can see that illumination on NV?

It's not illuminating the trees. It's just a bright spread light (in the NV) visible through the trees.

Tim Printy's explanation is in this pdf...

I looked at it on Reddit /u/ufos about 7 years ago too but can't find the post.
