No planes today

Sorry if I've got the wrong place for this, or if it's not at all relevant. Coaching my son's U/17's soccer this morning (to a 7-2 loss, but that's enough of that) I saw this lovely cirrus "evolve" with not a plane in sight. Newcastle, 11:45am, near perfect calm, looking south. Streaks are aligned NW-SE. It's now 4:17pm and I'm looking across Lake Macquarie to the south from my study and there is a HOWLING SW wind, ie perpendicular to the line of clouds in the pic. Absolutely standard autumn meteorology, but I can't count the number of pics like this one accompanied by text along the lines of "OMG, they are spraying us hard today, the scurrelous blaggards!!!" lol.
