(Apologies if this is discussed elsewhere. I did look but couldn't find anything.)
My query is: assuming that this happened at least somewhat as suggested (right place, time, etc.), and assuming the helicopters involved were carrying transponders, is it possible to go back in time on any flight tracking sites to see which, if any, aircraft were airborne around Leicester on the evening of 24.2.2019?
(I assume that, in peacetime, over the UK, RAF, coastguard, police and private helicopters must all carry transponders, but I'm not certain.)
I looked on one popular site but its data seems to only go back 1 year. Another seemed to want the user to know the tail number of the craft and search on that basis, but here that's impossible.
Hence, does anyone know if a search for aircraft movements in the way suggested/required is possible?
Thanks
More UFO sightings reported in Leicestershire as residents describe 'triangular object' in sky (27th February 2019)
'...on the Leicestershire Live Facebook Page, David Haith noted "a huge triangular UFO with lights on each corner was witnessed slowly and silently gliding through Leicester" on the evening of 24 February (last Sunday).
He explained: "The UFO was seen by 47-year-old commercial energy consultant Nigel Bailey, who posted details on Facebook."
On the Facebook post, Nigel wrote "Sorry this isn't related to this post but I've just seen a huge triangle-shaped aircraft flying slowly over Leicester.
"I caught up with it in the car but lost it. I saw three helicopters flying around it at a higher altitude than the police helicopter flies around it.
"The triangle was so low that I could make out the shape and the three lights at each corner and it had strobes flashing down the sides.
"It was silent!"
