I've not had time to look into it much but it seems a fun test, the building should be easy to find, but I can't find it it says 300 something on it, there's a 300 Main street in Winnipeg but with a brief look I couldn't correlate it, and no exact time is given, but I took a few mins to look at a ADSB Exchange data for a few hours before the video was posted for helo activity over Winnipeg but couldn't find it either.

I'm sure someone else will have more time and better skills.

This is the building

This is the Winnepeg Police Helicopter C-GAOL, but I don't think it broadcasts its position over ADSB. But funnily enough, it is a 'black helicopter' - which are commonly seen near genuine UAP events. /s

Police have long used helicopters to search for things like escaping suspects. Adding a drone to their search capabilities should double their results without doubling their costs.

Am I missing something? I see a distant fixed wing aircraft moving along the line of sight of the camera, then banking to the right and climbing; and a nearby helicopter. Is there something else I'm not seeing?

Or are people seeing the distant aircraft as being at the same distance as the helicopter and seeing them as interacting? Like the helicopter's spotlight shining "on" the distant aircraft.

In other words, is this an accidental forced perspective video?

That's what I was trying to check, I was hoping to use the ADS-B from the helicopter to get and exact time to see what traffic was in LOS.

I don't see a fixed wing aircraft, although I can see why someone would . I see the two flashing lights as being something small that is stationary close to the camera (a quadcopter drone) and at a lower altitude than the helicopter. As the helicopter circles around the drone then moves off to the right to look at the area that is being illuminated by the searchlight.

Simple explanation....

Both the helicopter and the bright strobe light appear as multiple lights when close to the edge of the window. This is because there is double glazing and the light thus has to pass at an obtuse angle through two panes of glass...and you thus get internal distortion....whereas closer to the centre of the window the light passes more directly through the two panes.

In fact if you look carefully you can see that most of the building lights in the distance are also duplicated and triplicated in exactly the same manner as they approach the edge of the window.

ah, so the two lights of the fixed wing aircraft are just one light plus the reflection? hadn't even considered that. nice thoughts.

Yeah that's what I was getting at in post 8
Indeed, I could see that in the helicopter lights were reflected but didn't think the the drone's "two" lights was one plus a reflection too. Weird how the effects mess with our brains.

Would someone kindly explain why this is a UFO video? I just see objects moving normally with flashing lights. One is clearly a helicopter and there are 1-2 others that are probably other helicopters or maybe drones.

"Clearly" one thing to one person is not necessarily clear to another. People in Winnepeg saw an object flying that they couldn't identify that was apparently being monitored by a law enforcement helicopter - this is "clearly" an anomalous event that demands further *investigation.

*debunking.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service crews rescued a person from the Assiniboine River on Wednesday night.

Crews were told there was a person moving down the river with the current near the Assiniboine Park Footbridge at about 10:18 p.m.

Crews set up at points east of the location, and a WFPS rescue crew brought the person to safety near Ferry Road and Park Boulevard North.

The person was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Honestly the whole UFO scene has been really quiet in terms of good videos to analyse for some time now, I fear we might lose our skills.

Because that particular poster hadn't identified it. Or, in the case of True Believers, he desperately wanted to believe it was something otherworldly. Or he wanted to get attention in the world of UFOlogy or the world of Reddit. (My money's on the latter.)

I think it's time to put this thread to bed.

No one reported this to any serious UFO forum in Canada. I'm in Winnipeg and I usually get calls and emails from media who receive videos and photos of UFOs in this area. (I publish the annual Canadian UFO Survey.) The video is pretty obviously the police helicopter, drone, and other activity. You think it's odd this reported as a UFO? You should see the stuff I regularly receive as UFO reports. At least there's something to see in this video.
