Exemplary contrail shadow over Montreal

I happened to witness a nice contrail shadow in the making, with a sun halo thrown in at no additional cost.

There was a pretty stable high haze layer right above Montreal, Quebec on Sat., June 4th. It made for several interesting observations. My position for the shadow pics was this:

Lat. 45.507905°
Long. -73.553299°

The first pic (plane close-up) was taken at around 12:20Z (UTC), facing roughly NE. The camera time (see EXIF data) is on CEST and about 3 minutes ahead. Local time was 8:20h.

The plane is likely a C-17 Globemaster. I could not find it on FR24.

The sequence is probably useful to visualize the location of haze layer, plane and sun. The plane itself is casting a faint volumetric shadow.

Pics are unedited (apart from scaling), except for the plane close-up which is contrast-enhanced.
