Claim - The Earth is venting deadly and explosive gases which will lead to extinction

This almost all seems like simply a complete science-fiction apocalyptic fantasy, just wondering how to prove it...

Summary of Hypothesis:
The seas, lakes and oceans are now pluming deadly hydrogen sulfide and suffocating methane. Hydrogen sulfide is a highly toxic water-soluble heavier-than-air gas and will accumulate in low-lying areas. Methane is slightly more buoyant than normal air and so will be all around, but will tend to contaminate our atmosphere from the top down. These gases are sickening and killing oxygen-using life all around the world, including human life, as our atmosphere is increasingly poisoned. Because both gases are highly flammable and because our entire civilization is built around fire and flammable fuels, this is leading to more fires and explosions. This is an extinction level event and will likely decimate both the biosphere and human population and it is debatable whether humankind can survive this event.

Hypothesis: As has happened in the past, the already-anoxic oceans have grown considerably more anoxic because of the halting of the Gulf current that distributed heat around Florida, up the east coast and then to the east. As a result, as has happened before, the anoxic 'dead zones' are pluming clouds of deadly invisible hydrogen sulfide gas into the atmosphere. Consequently, the ozone layer is being reacted away (H2S + O3 -> H2O + O2 + S), exposing the Earth to rising and probably ultimately lethal levels of UV radiation and causing a major increase in mutations and genetic chimeras all around the world.

This process is also allowing in more heat, which is now accumulating in the Gulf, along the east coast, and in other areas of the world's oceans, lakes, and seas, and beginning to dissociate the methane hydrate deposits. Because the H2S eats away the hydroxyl radicals as well as ozone, and because the hydroxyl radicals are what would NORMALLY mitigate methane in the atmosphere, the resulting methane plumes will last considerably longer, enhancing the oceanic heating, causing more H2S plumes, making the methane last longer...and so on.

The rising H2S levels in the atmosphere are killing off aerobic (oxygen-using) life on Earth. This began some time ago, with bees and small lizards, and has worked its way up the size ladder as the atmospheric plumes have increased in concentration, and this process has escalated radically since the Gulf circulation stopped in 2010. Now the H2S is wafting down into low-lying areas and killing people there in increasing numbers, and it is making its way into homes now too and killing multi-person households, as well as fish, birds, trees and other oxygen-using life around the world.

As you can see, the bulk of the fires are along the West Coast in central California and extending north into Canada, and along the Gulf Coast extending toward the northeast. The oceanic 'dead zones' are the reason, as they are now surely pluming deadly and highly flammable hydrogen sulfide. The two big sources for the gas emissions are most likely the dead zones in the Gulf of Mexico, and the large dead zone called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, in the Pacific Ocean to the west of California. The winds will blow the hydrogen sulfide released from these two large anoxic areas to the areas you see burning on that map. By examining the areas where fires are hitting hard, you can pretty much tell where you're most likely to drop dead from poisoning or have your brain destroyed by hydrogen sulfide's neurotoxic effects, or burn of course, if you're in the continental United States.

Is this fantastic scenario plausible?
How many agencies, civilian and government, would be monitoring this sort of thing to catch it if it were happening? What parts of this are true, or even possible?
Did the gulf circulation stop in 2010?
Is there evidence of these plumes?

Certain details sound plausible enough, but that could just be the magic sheen of pseudo-science, mixed in with the appeal of a fantastic and alarmist conclusion.
Any chance he is really a lone maverick who's figured out 'What's Going On'?

Some other very psuedosciency ideas here...

Chemtrails - Used for radiation protection to replace disintegrating ozone layer; to provide particles that work with HAARP to create ozone in the stratosphere with arcs; to provide aluminum oxide for use with mobile Claus plants to remove H2S from the atmosphere; to hide celestial objects from human view when deemed necessary.

Rumbling Sky Noises - The sounds of Claus plants running invisibly in the sky. The Claus process, discovered in the late 1800s, removes hydrogen sulfide from a gas stream and is the best way to do that that we have discovered.

Boom Sounds / Flashes Of Light In Sky - Hydrogen sulfide and/or methane plumes detonating in the sky above us, either purposely via human action (using incendiary flares or whatever), or igniting due to lightning. This may also sound like fireworks or 'popping sounds' if the plumes are smallish.

Strange Creatures - As the ozone layer dissolves and more spaceborne radiation beams down to the Earth, DNA and RNA is being damaged, fragmented. This is resulting in Mother Nature splicing in genetic data as best she can to fill damage-induced holes and gaps, sometimes taking this information from passing viruses, resulting in many more mutations, and in particular multi-species chimeras (generally two species). Many of these new chimeric creatures have human DNA/RNA and show human characteristics because our genome is so prevalent in the biosphere; we are everywhere.

Freak Hailstorms - As hydrogen sulfide plumes are blown into the upper atmosphere, they are reacting away our ozone layer (H2S + O3 --> H2O + O2 + S). It is very cold up that high in the atmosphere, so the H2O is sometimes coming down as hail at unusual times of the year, in unusual places and in highly unusual amounts.

Zombie-like Behavior - Hydrogen sulfide is a broad-spectrum poison but has powerful neurotoxic effects. In other words, it harms the brain, the neurology. It appears that it harms the higher functions: morality, conscience, logic, reason, language, memory. The result is that in some small percentage of the population, people just...lose it. They eat other peoples' faces, or eat their own son (happened in Uganda), etc. Cannibalism seems to be a common effect in this small percentage of the population. (Most people it simply kills outright.) So as we all breathe it in more and more, there will be more people doing simply insane things, from stripping off clothes and chasing buses to attacking and chewing on people.

He's wrong because hydrogen sulfide oxidizes to sulfur and and sulfurous acid in the presence of water, air and sunlight. There's always water present in air, and it's light half the time, so it's a dead duck. It's dangerous in enclosed spaces in the dark, particularly when one ceases to smell it. But that's difficult...

Thanks for the heads up. It's certainly good to have this information if it's true, and I'm open to it being so.
I'm interested in what methodology you use to come to these conclusions. What organisations monitor gases in the atmosphere, do they say anything about this?
Where do you get the data from? Do you take the measurements yourself?
How do you decide a fire was the result of spontaneous ignition due to gas in the atmosphere and not other causes?
For example, the recent explosion in Indianapolis has been determined to be a deliberate explosion using natural gas (although the investigation isn't complete), yet you cited that as evidence of a spontaneuos explosion from plumes, do you revise the incidents when there are other causes found?
Do you mind posting the links to references in this thread, just for the sake of clear information, that say methane has tripled in the atmosphere, that the gulf stream has stopped (it doesn't appear to have, or do you just mean it's slowed?), and Kuwait City was on lockdown due to hydrogen sulfide? The article I found said it was gas from an oil well, not plumes in the ocean.
Do you include oil field's in your 'dead zones'?

There are dangerous gases occasinoally released by the earth or sea - eg Lake Nyos in 1986 where CO2 asphyxiated as many as 1700 people!!

and methane is certainly increasing - it is a major greenhouse gas and its levels are monitored - but yuor link does not say it has tripled - it says that they EXPECT it to triple - a misunderstanding of what is posted on your part.

H2S toxicity is reasonably well known - from about 10 parts per million it can cause eye irritation and worse as it gets higher - eye damage at 50-100ppm, 50% fatalities with 5 minutes exposure at 800ppm.

Blooms in modern times are not unknown, but atmospheric levels are quite low -

In one report (2), the average ambient air hydrogen sulfide level was estimated to be 0.3
μg/m3 (0.0002 ppm). In north-west London, over a period of 2.5 years, air levels of hydrogen
sulfide were generally below 0.15 μg/m3 (0.0001 ppm) under clear conditions (2). In and
around the city of Rotorua, New Zealand, where there is geothermal activity, there is usually
a sufficient hydrogen sulfide concentration to cause odours. During continuous monitoring in
Rotorua a hydrogen sulfide concentration of 0.08 mg/m3 (0.05 ppm) was exceeded more than
55% of the time in the mid-winter months (2).

I was born in New Zealand - Rotorua STINKS of the stuff!!

So for H2S to increase to fatal levels wouldrequire an increase of moer than 2000% - 20 fold - just to get to 20ppm - and we would notice it a LONG time before it got that high.

Speaking for myself, I have been educated for quite some time and continue to do educate myself on a wide range of subjects. Apparently you have a long way to go. Not only have I managed a sewage treatment plant in the past, I'm also an expert at composting. Hydrogen sulfide is a common chemical produced in nature by anaerobic decomposition, it's also a by-product of many industrial processes. The hydrogen sulfide detected in SoCal was produced by anaerobic decomposition in the Salton Sea, which is an annual event. This year strong surface winds carried the H2S into more populated areas of SoCal.

Wrong. Atmospheric methane has risen by 150% since 1750, or about 2.5 times as high as 262 years ago.

Here they explain why the lockdown happened:

Al Watan news paper reported quoting Dr. Al-Rasheed that there are other areas in Kuwait where the level of pollution is really high, such as Ahmad Al-Jaber Street in Kuwait City, which, according to him, is "due to the digging, some of which reaches 20 meters deep. This means that hydrogen sulfide gas is emitted from untreated underground water which is the cause of the bad odor."

And you were saying that these gasses were already in the atmosphere, and that they would cause havoc.
Also, where did you find that plains would crash because of that? I couldn't find that anywhere. They did say that they found Hydrogen Sulfide in Southern California, but this is at a low level (0.03ppm measured in 2000) for an hour a day only, and the U.S. EPA does not consider it as a threat. http://oehha.ca.gov/air/pdf/oehhah2s.pdf

Last week a small crater on Mount Tongariro erupted, in the middle of the north island of New Zealand.

On Friday I passed through part of the gas-plume while traveling back from Taupo (that's it on the right, Sunday morning 3 days after the "erruption") - it stunk of H2S, and air monitoring flights are being carried out around the eruption to measure the quantity of that and other gases.



funnily enough no-one died, and a 8000+ person cycle "challenge" around Lake Taupo proceeded normally the next day (Lake Taupo is the big lake in the middle of the Nth Island - 160km/100 miles around more or less)

I have regularly worked around hydrogen sulfide in the oil and gas industry. I just completed my refresher training and respirator fit check two weeks ago. Just as with the radiation scares most people think that environmental monitoring is some specialty event. I regularly calibrate our gas detector with a cylinder containing H2S gas and carbon monxide. Our work also involves removing oil well piping contaminated with stale dinosaur farts and radiation from Satan's depths thousands of feet below. On the boat we carry both geiger counters and hydrogen sulfide gas detectors. Sometimes we sleep next to a fresh air backpack in case of a release. Any increase in radiation or poison gases will be seen by far more than government sources, I'll give you a head's up if I detect anything out of the ordinary, but by then I'll already be suited up.

I noticed some of the "science" oriented channels are full of these end-of-the-world death and destruction shows. Not just the Jehovah's Witness channel aymore.

Exactly, just as there is a water cycle there is a sulfur cycle, and H2S is a natural part of it.

There are certainly a good number of bona fide scientists who are concerned that a warming planet will melt methane hydrate deposits on the bottom of the ocean and trapped in permafrost. While such events might lead to localized explosions, the thing that most are worried about is that this will create a positive feedback loop that heats up the atmosphere even faster.

Lake Nyos in Africa that turned over and released a huge amount of CO2, sulfide, and other things that are better not breathed - lots of animals and 2000 people suffocated - our geology is less stable in the long run than many people assume. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Nyos

One of the side notes to the BP oil spill, was the 'oil plumes'. When they were tested, they turned out to be methane plumes instead of oil. They disappeared very quickly, due to the presence of one or more types of methane eating bacteria. These bacteria had never been seen before.

There has been some discussion that they evolved to take care of things like methane hydrate melts. The floor of the Gulf is amazing, with it's cold seeps and their communities and even methane 'lakes' that have their own set of life forms. A Dr Joye has done a bit of work on them
