Those who use the non-default theme (I use the light-on-dark 'Blackend' one) can be scuppered by this feature.

Good Lord! I feel so "OK Boomer" when I try to read this gibberish. Then again, Mick seems to have as much grey about the temples as I do so maybe it's just different career paths. Perhaps he doesn't when to switch from a Bull-float to a Fresno on a concrete job.

As always, thanks for keeping Metabunk up and running. For the wish list, still would be nice to have the old External Content boxes back with the offset color.

Or whether the straps go face up or down on a sand anchor, or which way to adjust the bridles when the wind gets stronger. We all have different skill sets and areas of expertise! ^_^

BB codes are actually kind of old-fashioned. The techniques used on boards like this predate social media.

well at least you have a better idea now how laughable it is when you say things like "There's nothing fishy going on with my sitrec code, it's open source so people can check it themselves". If @NorCal Dave thinks html code is gibberish, what word is left to use to describe the sitrec code! :)

Or when to use cobalt blue and when to use cerulean instead. Or when it's time to switch from a hog-bristle brush to a sable. ;) Or, more to the point, when it's time to concern yourself with facts rather than play around with being a type-setter.

newbie here.
i'm sure this must has been brought up before, but as a newbie it seems strange and a bit messy how there are so many different ufo related forums?

has there been consideration to have a single ufo forum, and then have further ufo sub-forums inside that? and maybe one of the sub-forums can be 'open ufo discussion' so that all the ufo related posts from the open discussion forum can go there?

that way everything ufo related is in the one place.

this might be relevant for other content umbrellas too, but the large scattering of ufo posts / forums was immediately noticeable and makes it difficult to know where best to browse when looking for certain ufo topics or discussions.

I noticed that, too.

Basically, https://www.metabunk.org/forums/ufo-reports-from-the-us-military-and-government.60/ used to be a subforum of https://www.metabunk.org/forums/ufos-and-aliens.10/ , but it no longer is.

And https://www.metabunk.org/forums/Skydentify/ used to be for pictures people took themselves, but it's not moderated for it and contains lots of posts that belong in https://www.metabunk.org/forums/ufos-and-aliens.10/ IMO.

An advantage to have all ufo reports "under one roof" is that site search can be limited to a particular forum to get more relevant results. Obviously this doesn't work when what I'm looking for could be in any of 3 forums.

Not sure if this would be harder or easier. but another option for that sort of searchability would be, in addition to Search having the option to search the whole site, or "this forum," or "this thread," to be able to select which fora to search, or which threads to search.

If that is impossible or really a pain in the ***, then disregard!

You can do that under Advanced Search -> Search Thread, and then select what forums you want to search in the "Search in Forums" (Cmd-Click or Ctrl-Click them)
It's still a pain, but possible.
