Sputtering, farting trails

Hi all... i've been looking into both sides of the contrail vs chemtrail issue and honestly have not made up my mind yet. I have not found any good answers to a few questions. One of them… as I do observe the trails a lot here in So.California, I wonder why so many trails skip, cut out or simply quit mid-stream. This does not fit into anything I know about contrail behavior. Im a certified aircraft mechanic so I have ruled out that the engines may have sputtered or farted... or that conditions surrounding the plane abruptly changed for a few seconds or altogether. Those make no sense. Chemtrail believers say its evidence of spray nozzles being turned on and off, or shutting off completely etc. Hard to argue. I have not found an answer that I like yet. I would like to believe we are not being sprayed like bugs but some things are getting difficult to ignore. Such as the lingering haze that falls from the trail canopies. I have other questions but don't want to run amuck rambling on.. thanks

One way to visualize what's happening is to take a look at some time lapse videos of clouds and how they act. Clouds exist because of the right combinations of moisture content in the air, temperature and air pressure. All of those factors can vary widely even over the distance of but a few meters.
Watch this video to see scattered clouds that seemingly appear out of nowhere, drift a short distance, only to disappear again and sometimes reappear only a short distance away.

The clouds seem to sputter and fart just like you described. Maybe you can begin to understand that the clouds that form from the water vapor in jet exhaust can react in just the same way. When the conditions are right to produce a visible cloud then one will form, but if the conditions are not right then they will not. The water vapor will always be produced by the engine, but the other factors that would make a cloud visible may not be present in that particular patch of air. Hence, sputtering and farting contrails.

I actually appreciated the chemtrail crowds for getting me interested in learning more about clouds and how they form. I never once spent more than a few moments in my life just laying back and staring at the skies to watch the clouds until I first encountered a "What Are They Spraying" disciple who kept saying "just look at the sky man"! Ever since then I sometimes like to plop myself down in a field and stare at the sky for hours, marveling at the beauty of such a simple thing as water vapor passing through the air.

One man's fear and distrust of an evil entity "poisoning the skies" can become another man's wonder and amazement of the pretty things going on in nature!
That's the ONE thing that I actually thank the chemtrail believers for. ;)

Welcome, and you are in my head!! Really, I have (countless times) used such videos to help explain to "chem"trail believers why they are mistaken and have misconceptions regarding cloud (and contrail, since they are just a type of cloud) behavior.

I see this claim often by "chem" believers/advocates. But, never any proof. Usually yet again, misconceptions. I see that you are an A&P...I never got that license, but I've been flying for 39+....oh, gee, just had a birthday, so now 40 years. Last 24 were with a major U.S. airline. Also, I live in SoCal.

When contrails form in conditions aloft that ALSO can contribute to other types of cirrus clouds' formation (something that is part of the science of meteorology, and that occurred LONG before airplanes were invented), then we can see a high overcast form. Sometimes it appears "gray" depending on thickness and the time of day for the viewer.

IF this high layer of cirrus cloud cover is extensive (geographically covering many square miles) then it can "appear" to "lower" towards the horizon, in the far distance. An optical illusion.

Finally, again depending on atmospheric conditions, there may ALSO be lower levels of "haze" due to elevated humidity. These events are part of the misconception of "chem"trails, misconceptions made by people who simply have not had the science education necessary to properly intrepret what they view.
