TFTRH 9: Joe - Former Chemtrail Conspiracist, Current New World Order Conspiracist

Here's the current version: "The Making of a YouTube Radical"
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/06/08/technology/youtube-radical.html
Mr. Cain never bought into the far right’s most extreme views, like Holocaust denial or the need for a white ethnostate, he said. Still, far-right ideology bled into his daily life. He began referring to himself as a “tradcon” — a traditional conservative, committed to old-fashioned gender norms. He dated an evangelical Christian woman, and he fought with his liberal friends...
Near the end of our interview, I told Mr. Cain that I found it odd that he had successfully climbed out of a right-wing YouTube rabbit hole, only to jump into a left-wing YouTube rabbit hole. I asked if he had considered cutting back on his video intake altogether, and rebuild some of his offline relationships.

More propaganda From the New York Times . Jordan Peterson is such a radical :)

What did you think of what was said about California ? propaganda ?
I think he identified some significant problems we have here: homelessness, opioids, low test scores in schools. But then just gave a rather blanket fingerpointing at Democrats, immigration, border security, and taxes. But these are all complex and slow-moving problems and issues that are not unique to California (you have similar problems in Florida, to varying extents). So I'd say it was propaganda in the sense that it was greatly over-simplifying the issues (and potential solutions) for political purposes.

I think the question of someone getting brainwashed is a bit out of place. Everyone is “brainwashed,” our knowledge is socially distributed and inherited from our family and culture.

I think I want to know more about what criteria there is for someone being brainwashed?

I know we have problems in Florida we are a relatively poor state compared to California with Low taxes . No state Income tax and low property taxes . We are not a border state but we do get a influx of people from poor countries as well. California GDP:$2.746 trillion (2017) Florida's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) hit $1 trillion . I Think California has a bigger problem then any other state considering its wealth .

The article doesn't mention Peterson, though it shows his photo at the beginning. The bar graph caption says, "Mr. Cain also watched many videos by members of the so-called intellectual dark web, like the popular comedian Joe Rogan and the political commentator Dave Rubin," differentiating them from "right-wing content" like Stefan Molyneux and Lauren Southern.

it was a bizarre article esp for the front page of the Times. (I subscribed to a lot of the people on there just for principle of the thing)

I noticed the photo of Defranco, but where did you see Jimmy Dore? On some issues, lefties can find common ground with libertarians and some righties. (Edit: Including bipartisan conspiracy theories like 9/11 truth and vaccine denial.)

Thanks! I misidentified him. Twice actually, his name and his face. I found a larger pic and it's not even the guy I thought he was and misnamed dore!
