Welcome Thread - New Members Post Here

hola tuttis.. starting posting here as per recommendation. Looking forward to mingling with lucidity here.
Boof .

Hi,
I found metabunk via Chemtrail and Flat Earth debunking efforts - I've flown more than 4.5 million Km and have a lot of experience that would argue with both of these myths.

"alarmour" I am NOT "new" here.....but I found your post quite nice. As an ex-airline pilot I guarantee that the world we live
on is a globe. Welcome to this forum. You used the words "argue" and "myth". Be careful, there can be people very firm
in their "beliefs". We bring facts, science and evidence to help educate, and erase false beliefs.

Hey all, glad I found this site. The level of pseudoscience and conspiracy [...] in my circle of friends appears to be growing out of control lately, so finding this [...] makes for a nice change. Hopefully, I can glean some insights here to help spark some lively conversations and debates with my [...] pals over some frosty adult beverages.

Hellos. Im Owen Terry, a autistic adult, who was previously a conspiracy theorist and even a marxist a few years back. Now i'm a pro-rationalism, science and education skeptic.

Glad to find this oasis [...] in the desert of mystics, conspiracy [theorists], creationists, and flat earthers.

Hey Guys - Eric is the name but although I don't consider myself a conspiracy theorist, there is a lot of 'truth' that I've discovered from so called 'conspiracy theorist' than the media. That's why I'm here. To learn more.

Hi Everyone! Great to be here! My ‘specialties’ are space, mil-space, & related topics. I see some interesting points made on topics of interest. I also see that though people argue details, generally there seems to be an “echo-chamber” here on specific topics… so I hope to bring some fresh perspective, where applicable, & look forward to lively debate, and within the rules framework. I don’t mind agreeing, but I also don’t intend to play “follow the leader” either – if your “debunk” is bunk – even if it’s a whole thread, I will call you (or you all) on it – hard and with facts… should be fun! :0)

Sorry I posted my first thread in the wrong location....lol I'm looking forward to reading and learning the right information concerning the conspiracies my son in law is always trying to convince me of.

Hello everybody. I found this site through a reference in skeptoid.com: it's great indeed! Even if it's focused mostly on some specific conspiracy theory such as 9/11, chemtrails and flat Earth, I've found here (beyond the enjoyable and well documented threads) a lot of interesting points and ideas. Mr. West, I'm afraid the battle against human gullibility cannot be won, but you deserve a lot of praises for trying, and trying so well!

About me: Italian, electronic engineer, 58 years old, skeptic.

Well it was my very first post and I already said something wrong.. after reading the threads for some more time, I see there's not a special focus on 9/11, chemtrails and flat Earth, just a problem of undersampling from my side :)

Hello, everyone. Been a lurker of this place for years. Love the work being done here. And sometimes reference work here to debunk others' nonsense.

I am a former moderator of ATS. I am a long-time UFO researcher (very avid, never-ending). I am also a long-time 9/11 researcher, with CNN doing a story on one aspect of my research back in 2007. But that's a discussion for another time.

Don't know what took me so long to sign up here, but glad to be here. :)

Hi to all fellow Metabunkers, from Cheshire, UK

Having read through every single page of Contrailscience.com and being a member of VORTEX on Facebook, I decided it was time to sign up here. I'll more than likely maintain a monitoring watch rather than join in on most discussions but I may chip in from time to time.

Hello everyone. I am a philosopher by training, not a scientist; my acquaintance with the sciences is purely amateur. But I do hate the ways in which genuine knowledge and expertise in all areas have been so devalued and reviled in public discourse, and how political point-scoring and audience-pleasing have replaced evidence-based argument and the sort of discussion where it's OK to say 'I don't know' and what you mean is: I don't know, not: …but it looks very suspicious to me. This site looks like a great way to improve my understanding of applied scientific reasoning and really cool graphics.

Hi. I am Ed B, historian of science and philosophy. I co-wrote this book https://muse.jhu.edu/book/35455.

I am fascinated by pseudoscientific belief systems and the sociology of pseudoscience.

As I live in England, I am interested in recreating the famous Bedford Level experiment.

hey I thought this might be a good place to share my idea for proving that the earth is FLAT!....or most likely, round. (HA! had ya there!) put down the tomatoes and check it out! id do it myself but im a little short funded. because my budget is zero! but if a few people were willing to loan out their garden hoses for a bit the whole debate could be put to rest for good for a few bucks! check it out in the flat earth forum.

Hi I'm a new member, I don't have any science background but trying to study all the 9/11 CT pseudoscience properly, is General Chemistry the best thing to start studying? I feel like I need a structural engineering degree do debunk a lot of the bs.. Thanks, love the site!

Hi All
Great to be here .I saw Mick on the Joe Rogan's Podcast, and found it extremely interesting.I grew up in southern Calif during the 1960's and have a huge interest in science, technology,Apollo,NASA,etc

Hello. I'm an aerospace guy by trade (not an engineer though): have very vivid memories of persistent grids of contrails on cold winter mornings all the way back in the 80s; have described to people how you can tell the Earth is curved based on watching airplanes land at DCA; personal experience of how hard it is to keep something relatively innocuous completely under wraps, unlike, say, a fake moon landing; and would actually enjoy finding out that weirdo lights in the sky are actually interstellar visitors (none of them have been, so far). Signed up because the Gimbal video explanation blew my mind with its level of detail.

Hello all, my name is Kevin McMillen, I'm from Morgantown, WV. I began this "interesting" journey when I found out that a friend of mine, an electrical engineer, fell deep into the "rabbit hole"

It's been about a year since I found out. As I get time I like to watch the FE videos, but........

Just wanted to post here before posting on the Flat Earth spirit level thread. Yep, my college educated, electrical engineer friend actually took a level on a flight.

Meet you at the spirit level thread for my reaction.

Kevin

Hi all. Happy to have found this site. Keep up the great work. It's getting more and more important by the day. Importanter, if you will...

Hi guys I am frankie one who is curious, especially about matters surrounding the WTC "truth" cult. And China, in particular the CCP misinformation cult. And these Russian collusion claims.

I have been a member of Metabunk.org for over a year now. I have used your site to help with fact-finding in ufology and other various subjects. I now see it is growing and am willing to contribute once I have been verified to contribute. I hadn't placed much emphasis in this arena until I had time. I am busier than ever helping to contribute truth to the human condition and I find there should be viable alternatives to existing debunking sites. To wit, I find some of them woefully inadequate.

In becoming a contributor here, I do understand debunking specific claims of evidence in a completely objective fashion is the main point of this site. I have created my own website, https://universaldigest.com, which covers a multitude of subjects. I have groups and sites in social media, as well. The medias are as follows: Facebook, Twitter, Google, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. I am blessed with some good contributing authors. I am a writer in my retirement. My goal is truth-finding to the max.

We seek to find truthful answers to various subjects and are not afraid to post accurate claims. Even in the face of those who choose not to listen, read, view or otherwise be objective, it doesn't deter us from our objectives. Therefore, the principals of Metabunk are invited to review our efforts. Mick West, I believe is the founder. Please take the time to check it out. I am offering this to help provide accurate contributions.

I am well-connected in the science and ufology community, globally.

Sincerely,
Ed Smith - Founder

Hi, i arrived here following the return of the debunked: Lights chasing each other carving holes in the clouds... that was discussed on facebooks V.O.R.T.E.X. group last week. I made my analysis, then after clicking a couple of links found Metabunk had come to the same conclusion.

This thread is for any first time poster to (optionally) post an introductory "hi everyone" post, which will also get you "verified" (meaning you can post without anti-spam restrictions) once it has been approved.

A few words on who you are and how you ended up here would be appreciated. Or just say hi!

Hello everyone. I love all things science that is rooted in evidence, that has been tested over and over and confirmed. I also love science mysteries that have yet to be solved. I tend to view things analytically but I also keep an open mind to all things possible. I found this site while wanting to comment on the show What On Earth. This show had a promising start but I soon tired of the statements by so called experts trying to explain images caught by satellites. They waste the time of the viewer coming up with ridiculous theories insulting their intelligence before finally revealing the answer that the viewers figured out at the begining of the story. It's a formula used by shows trying to pass themselves off as real science.

Hi All,

I would like to start by saying thank you to Mick for all he does in the CT arena. It is much appreciated.

My name is Stefan, I am 41 years old and live in Heidelberg, Germany. I fly business jets for a living for a very large international employer. I have friends and colleagues in the U.S. and in Europe. I consider myself a critical thinker. My mother has recently (last few years) developed many very worrying views. These are not isolated conspiracies but almost all encompassing. Just a few examples: She believes that virtually all mainstream media cannot be trusted (are government controlled), that Muslims l are taking over Germany/Europe and that this is actually planned and wanted by the government, even by the UN (resettlement). She believes in chemtrails (even though I am a pilot and should be the first to know...), doesn't believe in vaccination (any more, even though my brother and I were vaccinated with no negative effects), believes that Hitler wasn't really to blame for starting WW2 (was left no choice), follows right wing nationalists/populists in Germany and kind of seem to admire both Putin and Trump..., believes 9/11 was a government job etc, buys silver coins and hides them in her apartment as she believes the collapse of the finical system is just around the corner, believes in very questionable alternative medicine etc, etc. I think you get the idea. She gets most of her ideas from youtube videos. Hello "filter bubble" :-(

Basically it has become nearly impossible to have any kind of conversation with her without touching one ore more of the above topics. In fact, she has a tendency to want to speak about them.

My wife and I have a little son and we would like for him to have a normal relationship with his grandmother but at the same time I don't want her to have a lot of influence on him. I would not currently consider letting our son sleep at her place for example, even though my wife and I would love to do something on our owns sometimes. I just fear that our son will be exposed to her views and he is way too young to test them.

This has developed into a major problem for me and my brother and of course our mother, too. I am more the analytical, rational person, and my brother a little more the emotional type, but very smart and educated at the same time. I would need to see some progress on the factual side of things before being able or willing to continue to invest time on the emotional relationship with her. My brother is more prepared to continue to have a relationship with her and take it from there.

It bothers me greatly that she trusts and believess her "sources" on chemtrails more than me. I have been in aviation (cargo, passengers, VIP) for 20 years and personally know hundreds of pilots, engineers, mechanics, meteorologists, former air force pilots from air forces all over Europe and the U.S. etc. If there was large scale chemtrail activity of any kind, I would know about it. So my mother must think that I am either stupid or part of the conspiracy. This hurts me tremendously. When confronted she says the understands that it must be difficult for me but she avoids answering any concrete questions.

My brother has suggested that she should chose one theory she believes in and that he would sit down with her to analyze it. She chose chematrails. It's a slap in the face for me. However, it's an easy one to debunk so I have a bit of hope. They haven't sat down yet, though.

I realize this is a long winded intro but the story is important to understand what motivated me to sign up.

I guess it will be best to discuss my mother's views and how to best deal with them in a separate thread, not here in the welcomes. I will start a new topic in General Discussions. I would very much appreciate everyone's advise there.

Stefan

Hello, jon316 here. Poorly educated well read opinionated and frequently institutionalized. Got here looking for research on spinning solar cells. I got friends and a family member that are flat-earthers. Just want to read research based options and facts. Thanks for this.

Hi everyone!

I'm so glad I found this site. I was just scrolling thru my facebook page and came across an image with a beam of light; I tried to look for a more reasonable explanation on what caused it and ended up here. Can't wait to check all of the contents here.

Hello to all! I'm happy to be here and I am trying to find every way possible to leave this world a better place once I'm gone. I think it's the most important work that we do. I am grateful to find metabunk and be allowed to participate.

Hey how's everyone doing? In the late 2000's I was involved in many discussions about many world issues across various boards on the internet, including things like 9/11, 7/7 and Chemtrails. After doing my own personal research realising I had a bit of an obsession, and after many debates with [people] across the internet, I had enough, so I put the pen down and got on with my life.

But the interests never faded, 9/11 is still the most horrific and unimaginable thing I've ever seen in my life and something I could never ignore, and lately I returned to the topic.

I found this site just by browsing older topics on Google seeing information and details I'd never seen before, and found the genuine desire for truth and the analytical approach by it's members very appealing. So I thought it worth joining to see what people were talking about, join in with the discussions and see what people are doing and talking about today.

Of course I have my own opinions, and it would be great to receive that honest and analytical attitude in return and over all become a more knowledgeable person on the subjects that interest me. Hopefully I can make my own contributions, perhaps not take things as seriously as I used to, but use my almost obsessive thinking to participate in good debates and come up with reasonable conclusions to what people still consider serious world problems.

Also it'll be good to just have a crack on with people and get to know one another. So yeah, hi!
