    Claim: (emphasis mine)

Astronaut Michael Collins published a book in 1974 "Carrying the Fire". In the book there is a photo of what appears to be Collins floating in space. The only place this photo is found is in this book. There is no caption accompanying the photo.
    note:
    c2d3b66d99ea.

It is very obvious and undisputed that the [photoshopped] photo originated from this photo:
    Original NASA pic:
    9c94801dbc22.

The original photo is ALSO in the book. And the caption reads: "The zer0-G airplane-sickening!"
    c8109166bf2e.

And Michael Collins states in the book: "One of the great disappointments of the flight was the fact that there were no photos of my space walk"

It is fun to note that in 1975 a London based publisher, W.H. ALLEN reprinting the book, took the artistic representation even further by sticking it on the dust jacket:

    So to summarize:
*I can find zero evidence that NASA, Collins or any of the publishers ever claimed this was an authentic photo OR was a photo of his spacewalk. There is zero evidence that NASA had any involvement at all.

    * Collins tells us in the very book the photo originated from that "there were no photos of my spacewalk"

*The original photo is also in the book.

  2. I can confirm, as someone who made the effort and bought the book, that no claim is made anywhere in it by anyone that the frontispiece illustration is anything other than a bit of artistic licence to mark the start of the book.

I can also confirm that it's a damned fine book.

Someone PLEASE get this post to Mick West attention! Joe Rogan used to believe in the Apollo hoax. He still believes that this photo was faked and he continues to repeat it as evidence that NASA faked one image, they probably faked more. Mick went on Rogans podcast last week. I was really hoping he would bring this up and set him straight. I have been spamming Rogans comment section for YEARS trying to set him straight on this photo but he obviously hasn't seen the comment and no one has brought it to his attention.

I'll try to remember to bring it up next time. Joe does seem to have a few things hanging around from his conspiracy days that he's just not looked into recently.

off topic.. but I don't see the point in a separate thread.
    so 1/6th gravity ..
    upload_2018-2-9_20-45-19.

Now, Joe Rogan is a heavy guy.. but surely he knows a scrappy 8 or 9 year old who can mimic that move with a 10-15 lb back pack on. (i'm scaling the weight to the kids size a bit) .Heck I could still do it and I'm old. I bet joe could do it (once they stop laughing) on Earth with a full 25 lb backpack, he should try it.. would be a fun video. he could put on a puffy snowsuit and big boots.

The footage does look funny because it's hard to see the astronauts' far arms. This video says "the wire is taking the weight" but the arm is taking the weight. Basically he is using his partner as a pole and his arm is doing all the work.

We can't completely mimic the little hop foot movement at the end because we have normal gravity here on Earth.

  16. In the end it's all these people have: "Gee it looks kinda funny" and "I don't understand this".

As they never bother to resolve the latter issue, they can't get their heads around the first one.

One big monkey, do you know if the guy running apollohoaxnut is still taking applications? I applied twice and haven't had any word back and have no way of contacting the owner.

Same problem with me on apollohoax.net.
Maybe One Big Monkey can help; he is a member.

  21. I've alerted the site admin to this, and he has asked that people re-apply. Sometimes he doesn't get alerts and they expire, and if he gets multiple ones from the same people he treats them as spam :)
