These days you usually don't see wind farms that have been shutdown and abandoned. The Kamaoa Wind Farm consisted of thirty-seven 250 kW wind turbines with an operationally typical total peak output of 7.5 MW. As of 2006 the turbines were falling into disrepair, and they were finally shut down on August 15, 2006.
About two miles away a new farm called Pakini Nui has 14 new, modern turbines that were installed this year. They generate 1.5MW each. The big island power demand is about 300MW so it will be a big contributor.

An interesting photo. I have taken the liberty of copying your photo on my page www.geocities.com/daveclarkecb/Australia/WindProblems.html
On this page I am trying to provide an unbiased discussion of problems (or alleged problems) associated with wind farms. If you don't want me to use your photo I will happily remove it from my site. (I find it simplest to use the photo first and ask permission later - cheeky, but expedient.)
Also, I'm an admin for a group called Wind Turbines & Wind Farms, and we'd love to have this added to the group!
