The bad thing about simply viewing the picture on an XKCD cartoon rather than visiting the site means you miss an additional punchline sometimes, which appears when you hover the icon over it on a desktop display. On this one it was:

There must be a word for this.I didn't get a chance to become a fan myself when the first movie came out, but couldn't avoid seeing it a few decades later.
Or a whole series!
I was born in the same year the first film came out, so I missed the initial chance. Then I kind of felt like it had passed me by. I could probably pretty much tell you all the main characters and most of the plot, though, purely due to cultural osmosis
