Claim: Officer Michael Slager was shot with his own taser

Well, I guess that depends on how you look at it.

One could say that it looked like a pretty mundane, uneventful, not scary traffic stop
until Scott radically changed the calculus by bolting.

I'm obviously not going to argue that he deserved to die...but was there really any reason
to suspect that the cop was a physical threat to him, before he ran?
you know.. I'm thinking there is a miscommunication happening. I think it was Dr. Bomb who said something along the lines of 'too bad we didn't see the whole traffic stop'. Maybe they are talking about he ran AFTER the physical struggle or tasering and we are talking about him running initially from the car when there was no threat. ?

The dash cam video has been released.

Hard to tell from the video, but cops are relying on Tasers quite a lot, and drawing and using them as an initial escalation. I have been tased and it is most unpleasant, so would be tempted to run if one was drawn on me. A Taser was involved here and we don't know what caused it to be drawn and exactly by whom.

What we don't know is the conversation, tone, body-language and posture of either party, and I am pretty good and judging if someone is going to be violent, or reasonable. In the airport, you can get people questioning you that are having a good day, and others that you just know that any answer they don't like will result in them escalating to another level, with implied violence on hand if their ego might be bruised. I was coming though DC with a piece of explosive detection kit, and the customs guy wanted to know what it was - I explained, but chemical/vapour detection was not his subject and he got snippy with me, so I was quiet as further explanation would only enrage him further.

Edit: I wrote this prior to the dashcam video came on the thread and am referring to the shooting video. Audio might add context and wondering why this has been edited out..?

Tasers often seem to be used early on in a confrontation in the US - the use of force continuum for many states allows police to use Tasers if the suspect "pulls away or tenses during handcuffing", but the majority (75%) also allow it to be deployed against fleeing suspects - unsure if Slager's PD allows this (reference here if interested: https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/232215.pdf) . Therefore by running, Scott is making himself far more likely to get zapped, and it's pretty obvious from the dashcam vid that there was no threat to Scott of a Taser or any other force being used against him when he chose to run.

So it's possible Slager used the Taser to attempt to stop Scott from fleeing once he caught up, but it appears there was no obvious duress or other stimulus that initially caused Scott to run from Slager.

It's amusing how many of those who claim to be against government tyranny are still quite comfortable with the jackboot coming down on certain people.

maybe he just panicked so as to try not to get into trouble (a bit pointless if the cop has your ID) form the dashcam video FIRST he said he just bought the car, then he admitted he didn't have insurance, then he said he hadn't actually bought the car yet and was going to buy it on Monday.

Care to elaborate on your point? This thread is discussing the claim that the officer fired because he was shot with his own taser. Perhaps you might start your own thread if you want to make a claim about "tyranny"?

Well, I was referring to the hypocritical point-of-view held by The Conservative Treehouse site.
